Are your students interested in pursuing a career in the arts? Learn from our experience of turning childhood dreams into a high school project and then finally, a small business. Valeria Contreras, Founder of Valcon Comics, has experience giving motivational speeches to students from elementary to high school in both small classrooms and large-scale events. Valeria has participated in various Career Day opportunities at several schools.

Create Your Own Comic (Workshop)
Minimum: 20 minutes / Maximum: 45 minutes

Supplies: Crayons, index cards

Learn how to make your own comic strip with Valeria Contreras, Founder of Valcon Comics. The workshop focuses on several timed exercises to encourage kids to think quickly and creatively. Upon conclusion of the workshop, students will learn to tell their own stories in words and pictures. The workshop encourages students to tap into their own imagination and create a draft for a four-panel comic strip that they can later develop at home.
